Fair Trade

Nearly All Nectar of Life Coffees are Certified Fair Trade.

UPDATE 2/25/2011 Due to the soaring coffee commodity market and resulting premium price paid for gourmet Arabica coffees, many Fair Trade certified farmer coops are electing to not pay their Fair Trade certification. We have purchased Fair Trade organic coffees from the same famer operated coops for years. Due to the economic situation some of these coops have not paid their Fair Trade certification so the coffees cannot be called "Fair Trade Certified." The coffees are still Fairly Traded and we are actually paying twice as much for the coffees as when we first started. We want to thank you for supporting us while we continue to support the hard working farmers that produce these stellar coffees.

Nectar of Life Coffee Company roasts certified organic Fair Trade coffees. We believe that by providing customers with the finest in gourmet coffees we can promote Fair Trade as not only a social cause, but a better way to do business. TransFair USA, is an independent non-profit organization that monitors and certifies Fair Trade products in the United States. Fair Trade raises incomes and living standards for small coffee farmers overseas while helping to protect the environment. Fair Trade doesn't provide aid or charity, but instead promotes self-reliance and equality for farmers who are disadvantaged under present trading conditions.

Fair Trade practices include:

• Paying farming families a fair price for their harvests, providing them with a decent living wage.



• Helping small farmers gain access to needed loans for working capital.



• Establishing direct, long-term trading relationships between buyers and farmers.
